I'm home!

Great news - I'm home! I was very happy to be back on U.S. soil. Spending time if Africa really made me realize what it means to be "free". We really are "free" here folks and the "American dream" exists. Yes, you know it when you are here but you FEEL it when you are in Africa.
I'm happy to be home and have so many blog posts to catch up on - I can't wait to share all of the animals I saw! I also can't wait to process all that I experienced...
Upon my return home, I suffered from something nasty in my gut - ugh! I finally got the meds needed to clear up my sick gut and now I can focus on getting back into a proper eating and sleeping schedule. Also, I need to wrap my brain around all that I experienced!

So, I left off with a description of what the homes are like in Johannesburg. Here are some more photos.
Most homes have a wall like the one in this photo PLUS an electric fence on top PLUS barbed wire on top of the electric fence. Behind the gate might be an armed guard and/or a very hungry dog.

Here you see the barbed wire on top of the fence and wall.

Could you live like this? So much fear.
